Databricks
From lakehouse to action

SPIRITT deploys Databricks apps, manages Unity Catalog access, and keeps compute aligned with your policies. Give it an operational goal, from a governed data access desk to a weekly decision workflow powered by Genie.

What you can do with Databricks.

  • Apps people can use

Turn workspace source code into deployed Databricks apps, with verified deployment status and permissions matched to the intended audience.

  • Governance that gets done

Check direct and inherited Unity Catalog permissions, route access requests, and apply authorized grants without losing sight of existing access.

  • Controlled compute

Build cluster policies around allowed runtimes and node types, check cluster compliance, and enforce the rules within your change windows.

Get started in three steps.

01

Open your workspace

Create a SPIRITT workspace for your Databricks platform operations, internal apps, or analytics workflows.

A workspace connected to software projects
02

Connect Databricks

Connect Databricks with access to the apps, Unity Catalog objects, compute resources, or Genie spaces your mission needs.

03

Delegate an outcome

Give SPIRITT a concrete goal, such as deploying an internal app or running a governed access desk. It builds and operates the workflow.

Questions

Databricks, with SPIRITT.

01What can SPIRITT operate in Databricks?+
SPIRITT can create and deploy Databricks apps, create scheduled jobs and verify their runs, provision clusters and instance pools, manage cluster policies, and update Unity Catalog grants. It can also create quality monitors, inspect their configuration and refresh history, and retrieve Genie query results. Each mission uses the resources available to the connected identity.
02What access does it need for Unity Catalog work?+
The connected identity needs permission for the specific securables and operations involved. SPIRITT can inspect direct grants separately from effective permissions, which include inheritance. It can create access requests when privileges are missing; a request does not itself grant access.
03Can it keep compute policies enforced over time?+
Yes. Given a cluster and policy inventory, SPIRITT can repeatedly check compliance, enforce the current policy within your agreed scope, and verify the result. It can coordinate exceptions through Jira or Slack. Policy enforcement should follow your change windows because it changes cluster configuration.
04How can Genie answers drive work in other tools?+
SPIRITT can start Genie conversations, ask follow-up questions, and retrieve the associated query results. It can compare those results with Google Sheets targets and send evidence-backed actions to Slack. Returned results support the workflow; they do not imply unrestricted access to every lakehouse table.
05Can SPIRITT deploy an app inside Databricks?+
Yes. It can create a Databricks app, deploy source from a workspace path, inspect its details and update status, and manage app permissions. It can also start the last active deployment or stop a running app. This supports release workflows around internal tools with prepared workspace source.
06How is this different from asking Genie a question?+
Genie provides conversational data answers within a configured space. SPIRITT can use those answers as one step in a wider operation while also deploying apps, handling catalog access, managing compute policies, and coordinating work across connected tools.
