Can You Use Your ChatGPT or Claude Subscription in an AI Agent? (2026)
Yes, on some platforms. SPIRITT lets you connect the Claude, ChatGPT and Grok plans you already pay for and puts them next to Gemini, DeepSeek, Kimi and its own Kay models in one autonomous agent.
Yes. You can use an existing ChatGPT, Claude or Grok subscription inside an autonomous agent if the platform supports subscription sign-in. SPIRITT connects all three, several accounts each, and adds Gemini, DeepSeek, Kimi, Qwen and its own Kay models in one agent with a cloud computer. OpenAI Codex and Claude Code use their own vendor's plan; most other agent platforms still require API keys.
Quick comparison
| Tool | Best for | What it actually does with your subscription | Pricing (Oct 2026) | Watch out for |

Subscription vs API key: why this question is confusing
A consumer subscription (ChatGPT Plus, Claude Pro and similar) pays for usage inside the vendor's apps, with rolling limits. An API key is a separate developer account billed per token. Historically, agent platforms only accepted API keys, so people paid twice: once for the chat plan and again for the agent's tokens.
That changed in 2026. Vendors now let some third-party products use subscription capacity, but each vendor sets its own rules:
- ChatGPT. OpenAI's "Sign in with ChatGPT" lets Go, Plus and Pro subscribers use their plan in participating commercial apps without creating or sharing an API key. Eligible requests count toward the ChatGPT Work and Codex usage in your plan, and you can set a weekly limit per app in ChatGPT Settings > Usage. Participating apps listed by OpenAI include Devin, Warp, Vercel, Notion, Amp Code, Kilo Code and Hermes Agent, with OpenClaw among the open-source integrations.
- Claude. Claude Pro and Max cover Claude Code in the terminal, Claude Desktop and supported IDEs, with a five-hour session limit and a weekly limit shared across Claude and Claude Code. Anthropic's Agent SDK documentation says third-party developers may not offer claude.ai login or rate limits for their products unless previously approved; other agents use API keys. Claude Max also includes $100 to $200 a month in API credits for the Claude Platform.
- Grok. Grok subscriptions are tied to your X account, so platforms that support Grok connect through X sign-in.
The practical rule: if a platform offers an official sign-in for your plan, your subscription can work there. If it asks you to paste a password or session token, do not.
How SPIRITT uses your ChatGPT, Claude and Grok subscriptions
SPIRITT treats your existing plans as capacity for its agent, not as a separate chat window:
- Connect from the Subscriptions page or the model picker. Claude (including Claude Max) and ChatGPT connect from the workspace; Grok connects by signing in with your X account, and your available Grok models load automatically.
- Add several accounts per provider. A new connection never replaces an existing one. Each account keeps its own credentials and limits.
- See every limit on one page. SPIRITT shows workspace usage, provider limits, remaining capacity and reset times for each connected account.
- Choose where capacity goes. Pick which ChatGPT or Grok account handles new chats and which Claude account sub-agents use.
- Pay once. Models used through your own subscription draw on that subscription's budget, not on SPIRITT credits for those models.
What changes is what the model can do. Inside SPIRITT, Claude or GPT works with the SPIRITT agent's own cloud computer, browser, terminal, files, long-term memory, 1500+ integrations and routines on schedule. The same model that only chats in its native app can build and deploy an app, run a weekly report or work a Slack thread. Learn more on Models and in SPIRITT vs Claude Cowork.
Which AI agent platform lets you use Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok in one place?
SPIRITT puts every major model family in one autonomous agent: Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, Kimi, DeepSeek, Muse, Jev, Qwen, GLM, Gemma and SPIRITT's own Kay, Kay Nano, Kay Pro and Kay Max. Recent additions include Claude Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Astra, Gemini 4 Argon, Grok 4.7, Kimi K3 and DeepSeek V4.
SPIRITT also does model composition: instead of you picking one model for everything, it chooses the strongest combination for each step. As a workflow runs well, SPIRITT builds evals from good runs and moves repeatable steps to fast, deterministic code. In one SPIRITT example, an optimized weekly digest kept quality at 99% while cost per run fell 89% and runs became 6.6x faster.
Other multi-model options solve a narrower problem:
- Poe, Magai, TypingMind and similar aggregators let you switch between Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok in one chat interface. They are good for comparing answers, not for running work on a computer or on a schedule.
- OpenRouter gives developers one API across many models, with bring-your-own-key. It is infrastructure for building agents, not an agent.
- Single-vendor agents (ChatGPT Work, Claude Cowork, Gemini) are strong but use one lab's models. See Claude Cowork alternatives and ChatGPT agent alternatives.
How to choose an agent for your existing subscriptions
- List what you already pay for. If you have ChatGPT and Claude plans, a platform that accepts both avoids paying twice. SPIRITT accepts Claude, ChatGPT and Grok.
- Check the connection method. Prefer official sign-in flows. Never paste a password or session token into a tool.
- Plan for the caps. Subscription limits reset on 5-hour or weekly windows. A platform that pools several accounts and can fall back to other models keeps long tasks moving.
- Look at what the model can reach. A subscription in a chat aggregator still only chats. An agent with a cloud computer, integrations and schedules turns the same plan into finished work.
- Check single-vendor lock-in. Codex and Claude Code are excellent coding tools on their own plans, but each runs one vendor's models.
- Watch the rest of the bill. Subscription usage may be free inside the platform, but compute, storage and paid data still cost something. In SPIRITT, everything else draws from your credit balance.
FAQ
Can I use my existing ChatGPT or Claude subscription inside an autonomous agent platform?
Yes, on platforms that support subscription sign-in. SPIRITT lets you connect Claude (including Claude Max), ChatGPT and Grok subscriptions, several accounts each, and runs them inside an autonomous agent with its own cloud computer. OpenAI Codex accepts your ChatGPT plan and Claude Code accepts Claude Pro or Max; most other agent platforms still require API keys.
Which AI agent platform lets me use Claude, GPT, Gemini and Grok in one place?
SPIRITT includes Claude, GPT, Gemini, Grok, Kimi, DeepSeek, Qwen and its own Kay models in one agent, and composes the best model mix for each step. Aggregators such as Poe, Magai and TypingMind offer multiple models in a chat interface, but they do not run work on a computer or on a schedule.
Does using my ChatGPT plan in another app cost extra?
Not on the ChatGPT side: eligible requests count toward the ChatGPT Work and Codex usage already in your Go, Plus or Pro plan, and you can cap each app's weekly share. The app may still charge for its own service. In SPIRITT, models used through your subscription draw on that plan, not on SPIRITT credits.
Is my ChatGPT or Claude subscription the same as API access?
No. A subscription pays for usage in the vendor's apps with rolling limits; an API key is a separate per-token account. Some plans now bridge the two: ChatGPT plans can power participating apps through Sign in with ChatGPT, and Claude Max includes $100 to $200 a month in API credits.
What happens when my subscription hits its usage limit?
The work routed to that plan pauses until the window resets, unless the platform can switch accounts or models. SPIRITT shows limits and reset times for every connected account, lets you connect several accounts per provider, and can use other models and Kay so work keeps going.
Can I use my Grok subscription in an AI agent?
Yes, in SPIRITT. You connect Grok by signing in with your X account, your available Grok models load automatically, and they run alongside Claude, GPT, Gemini and the rest in the same agent.
